Announcing Updated Definitions for Intimate Partner Violence

Announcing Updated Definitions for Intimate Partner ViolenceCDC developed Intimate Partner Violence Surveillance: Uniform Definitions and Recommended Data Elements, Version 2.0 for people and organizations interested in surveillance data on intimate partner violence (IPV).

Recently updated, CDC designed this document to promote and improve consistency of IPV surveillance.

If the recommended data elements can be uniformly recorded and the data made available to numerous users, then we will have better estimates of IPV and problems such as data incompatibility and high costs of collecting, linking, and using data will be substantially reduced.
